Border Zone

Border Zone by Mathias Laitila Kälvemark; available in a limited edition.

Border Zone, front cover

The pictures in this book where taken during a difficult period of low spirit, mainly during 2014-2015. It was a kind of self-reflecting purpose, or therapy. The black and white style came on naturally; inspired by grainy Tri-X film and hard contrast paper. The idea to select and compile the pictures to a book came up in 2018, through Mia Galde’s workshop series at Fotografiska, Stockholm.”

Border Zone consists of images drawn from a pictorial diary.

The title refers to an altering emotional state; on the verge of grief.
